Towering cacti like these are plentiful in the Oaxaca landscape. The growths at the top of these cacti are a sweet, deep red fruit called "tuna," which the people here knock off with long wood poles. The fruit can be eaten straight from the cactus, used for its juice, and even blended and frozen to make cactus fruit popsicles.
